- picnic box: 23.4 by 33.5 by 18 cm, 9 1/4 by 13 1/4 by 7 1/8 in.chest: 15.7 by 20.9 by 12.2 cm, 6 1/8 by 8 1/4 by 4 3/4 in.
the picnic box comprising a cover above three stacked trays, the cover secured with a metal rod, all supported on a base frame set with a humpbacked handle and openwork spandrels, the corners reinforced with metal mounts extending into ruyi-heads on the cover; the chest with a removable front door and a humpbacked handle, the interior with three drawers of varying size

Condition
Both boxes with expected surface scratches and age cracks, including few cracks to one corner and the base of the zitan picnic box. Both boxes with replaced sections made of differnt types of wood, including two trays of the picnic box, and sections of the drawers of the medicine chest. The metal mounts of the zitan box are likely to be later replacements.
