Description

  • 35.5 cm, 14 in.
of baluster form and square section, flanked by a pair of rectangular lug handles, well-painted on each side with three confronted chilongs forming an archaistic bundle in underglaze red, surrounded by clouds in between borders of petal panels and pendent ruyi, the neck with a band of foliate lotus extending onto the handles and the rim with upright leaves

Condition

The vase is generally in good condition. There is some fritting and burst air bubble to the mouth rim, as well as a shallow flake in one corner of the rim. There are some surface scratches and soiling to the glaze around the body. There is an old crack, possibly original to the piece across the foot rim on one side. There is a 'V'-shaped crack, possibly original to the piece across the foot rim too.
