Description

  • 16 by 10.5cm; 15 by 10.5cm.
volume one with two surahs, surah ya-Sin (XXXVI) and surah al-Fath (XLVIII), Arabic manuscript on paper, 10 leaves plus 2 fly-leaves, 11 lines to the page written in black naskh, ruled in gold, verses separated by gold pointed roundels, f.1b with a gold and polychrome heading, in brown binding, the colophon stating it was copied by Mehmed Shukri, illuminated by Osman, dated 1323 AH/1905-6 AD; volume two a collection of prayers for a Sufi, Arabic and Ottoman Turkish manuscript on paper, 55 leaves plus 4 fly-leaves written in black naskh, partly ruled in gold, opening double frontispiece decorated with polychrome scrolls on a gold ground, incomplete, in brown gilt binding, one colophon stating it was copied by Muhammad Selim, dated 1277 AH/1860-61 AD for al-Haj al-Shaykh Ahmad al-Mushtaq al-Qadri

Condition

In good conditions, minor stains and holes, smudges, tears to some pages, one of the two volumes incomplete, as viewed.
