  • reverse painted glass 17 1/2 by 19 1/4 in.; 44.5 by 48.9 cm
the reverse painted scene is inscribed The Battle Betteen the Constitution and Gueriere, 19 Aug. 1812, and is signed E.WEBB. 3 pieces. 

Condition

The reverse painted glass shows running of colors in areas. Some vertical lines exist that may have been caused by condensation or removal of old backboards. The oil on canvas shows many areas of loss to the paint and no evidence of any in-painting under UV light. The pen and ink drawing has some discoloration to the paper, as well as an old repaired tear to the right side of the image above the speckled horse.
