Condition

Overall in good condition. When viewed firsthand, Guimard's signature whiplash curves pair marvelously with the shimmering gilt wood surface. The gilding on the front of the frame is brighter and more luminous than the gilding applied to the outer edges and appears to have been enhanced at some point in the history of the piece. The wood surfaces present with some very minor abrasions, faint surface scratches, and light discoloration consistent with age and gentle use. The wood with some very minor hairline age cracks throughout, stable and not visually distracting. The mirrored glass appears to be a replacement and presents with some very faint and fine surface scratches, only visible upon close inspection. An example of this model is held in the permanent collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.
