Condition

Overall in very good condition. With scattered minor abrasions, rubbing and surface scratches, mainly concentrated on the center of the tabletop, as consistent with the material over time and gentle use; the largest scratch measuring approximately 11 inches long. The metal base with an area of minor rubbing and discoloration, measuring approximately 2 by 2 inches, visible upon close inspection. With the use of reflective materials for the black tabletop design in the present lot, Szekely intended to stimulate interaction between the dining table and its surrounding space, including the people gathered around the table. Such careful and meditative use of material speaks to Szekely's considerate and encompassing approach to contemporary design.
