Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, the subtly variegated Bardiglio marble displays a range of soft dove-grey tonalites with subtle figuring. Judy McKie's use of Bardiglio marble on this bench calls to mind the natural surface of an elephant's skin, accentuating the whimsicality of this superb example of McKie's oeuvre. The marble surfaces with minor surface scratches, abrasions, and scuffing consistent with age and gentle use. The marble surface presents with scattered white circular spotting, concentrated mainly on the top and not visually distracting. The head with scattered hairline scratches concentrated mainly above the eyes, the largest measuring approximately 7 3/8 inches. The surface on the proper right of the bench presents with a very faint area of minor discoloration. Please note: this bench weights approximately 2,500 lbs. This bench highlights McKie's supremely fanciful imagination and her use of sculptural and totemic forms.
