Condition

Overall in very good condition. The copper surfaces retain their original surface patina and display with a beautiful hammered surface texture. The base with scattered minor surface scratches, discoloration and some minor traces of surface soiling throughout, particularly concentrated on the lower half of the body, all consistent with age and gentle handling. The copper elements of the shade with scattered minor surface scratches and abrasions consistent with age and gentle handling. The shade retains its original mica, which is in very good condition with some very minor isolated lifting to the surface layers around the perimeter edges on the shade interior. The four pull-chains appear to be original and undisturbed. When illuminated, this lamp presents with a warm amber-colored glow. While the lamp is currently in working order, Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician. An exceedingly rare example of this unusual lamp form by Van Erp, displaying outstanding proportions and a particularly dynamic silhouette. The sweeping shade arms are a particularly elegant design element of this lamp.
