This picture is lined - the lining is providing a stable support. There are small areas of localised craquelure - mainly in the clouds on the left. The paint surface is dirty and the varnish appears discoloured - the picture would probably benefit from a clean. There is a small abrasion close to the edge of the picture in the upper left corner. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT There are a few very minor flecked retouchings and small areas of retouching along the upper edge - these are all very small. The varnish appears opaque. FRAME The picture is contained in a moulded plaster gold-coloured frame.
