Condition

This picture is unlined and in good condition. There are no signs of craquelure and the paint surface appears to be clean. There are two small surface abrasions, one below the bow's leg and the other to the right of the book far left. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT There are small areas of localised retouching to the boys face and to his sleeve and possibly further areas above the woman's head and to the leg of the piano. FRAME The picture is contained in a later moulded plaster and gilt frame.
