Description

  • Argent, ruban, trois agrafes.
  • 3.4cm diameter

Provenance

Prince Napoléon Jérôme, called Plon-Plon (1822-1891);
Prince Victor Napoléon (1862-1926);
Prince Louis Napoléon (1914-1997)

Condition

Great Britain, Crimea Medal, of standard type with three clasps as illustrated, unnamed, diameter of disc 36.1 mm In virtually ‘mint’ condition, this silver Campaign Medal is well-toned and is on its original ribbon. Its three clasps are each drilled at the base only and have been soldered together before being loose-mounted on the ribbon, apparently never having been fitted to the straight bar suspension rivet. It may be observed that at just over 36mm the diameter is correct (3.4cm, as stated in the catalogue, would suggest that the medal has been ‘skimmed’ which is not the case).
