  • the case 43.6cm., 17 1/4 in. long
comprising: twelve teaspoons and a pair of sugar tongs, in a fitted gilt-tooled green leather carry-case, stamped SA MAJESTE LA REINE HORTENSEteaspoons, maker's marks distorted, the terminals chased with putti and doves, 14.5cm., 5 3/4 in. long; sugar tongs, Aimée-Catherine Clérin, bright-engraved border, each side pierced with scrolling husks, 16.5cm., 6 1/2 in. long, all engraved with the Imperial crown

Condition

The spoons and tongs are in very good condition with gilding of pleasing colour. The makers mark to the tongs is clear but the makers mark to all spoons are illegible. 1st standard marks are all clear. The case with replaced rear hinge plate to one side. Slight area with leather loss to rear. A few various scuffs and leather losses to edges and corners but otherwise good. Wear is commensurate with age.
