Rocque’s plan of London was the first survey since that carried out by William Morgan in the aftermath of the Great Fire. It was larger than any earlier published map of London as a whole, and at a scale of 26 inches to a mile, it is a primary record for the city in the mid-eighteenth century.
Second edition from c.1749 with no changes to the title or imprint, but with some minor alterations to the map, such as the addition of Chesterfield House on sheet A2 (completed in 1749), John Street and Hill Street.
