Catalogue Note

An important, large-scale and ambitious undertaking by the Russian Archaeological Commission, whose work in the area prepared the ground for subsequent western studies. This fascicle is devoted to the Gour-Emire mosque and to this day remains unparalleled in scale and significance. It would appear that the publication never made it past the first fascicle.
