FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes, 8vo (189 x 113mm.), 3 folding engraved coloured maps, 6 lithographed plates, coloured by hand, later polished calf gilt in period style, morocco spine labels, marbled edges and endpapers, lacking half-title in volume 1, endpapers spotted, a few plates and title of volume 1 trimmed, bindings slightly rubbed with spines sunned

Catalogue Note

This voyage was made in the South American Missionary Society's vessel Allen Gardiner, commanded by Snow. While in the Falklands, he had a disagreement with the superintending missionary and was relieved of command. As a result Snow and his wife had to make their own way home to England.
