88 photographs, mostly albumen prints (from 130 x 180mm. to 205 x 267mm., or the reverse), mounted on thick card, recto and verso, 47 signed "A.Briquet", and/or dated "1896" in the negative, some with letterpress captions on mounts (see footnote), contemporary vellum gilt, one panorama of Mazatlan by Zuber, on 5 sheets, folded and mounted on thick card (175 x 1078mm.), dated "1900" in the negative, loose, some photographs with purple ink stamps, or with visible notes on verso, some spotting, vellum slightly soiled

Catalogue Note

The collection includes views by Abel Briquet from his series of photography books: "Vistas Mexicanas", "Tipos Mexicanos" and "Antiguidades Mexicanas". 

Alfred "Abel" Saint-Ange Briquet (1833-1926) was a French pioneer of photography, mostly in Mexico. He was commissioned to record the construction of the Mexican National Railway in 1876.
