29 photographs, comprising: 8 ALBUMEN PRINTS (average 215 x 275mm., or the reverse), 4 mounted on card, and 21 matt and glossy silver prints (average 80 x 80mm.), mounted on card, slight fading, some wear to mounts

Catalogue Note

RARE. This collection includes a photograph taken in 1888 by the Meccan photographer al-Sayyid ʻAbd al-Ghaffar inside the Masjid al-Haram during prayers (titled and captioned in the negative in Arabic), 4 photographs of the Egyptian Mahmal and camel caravan by Zangaki, others by Abdullah frères, G. Lékégian and Bonfils, and 21 amateur photographs (c.1901) of the Mahmal in Cairo.
