Condition

Overall in very good condition, age appropriate. There are natural knots, irregularities and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, and this has been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, minor areas of rubbing, and a few areas of paint residue, consistent with age and gentle use. The front proper left foot and the rear proper right foot each with a small loss to this infill measuring approximately 1 5/8 x 1/8 in. and ½ x 1/8 in., respectively, as partially visible in the catalogue illustration. The former also with a small chip to the wood measuring approximately ½ x 1/8 in. The frontmost rail supporting the proper right arm with some lifting of the wood above and below one of the nails. Both the seat and back cushions are reversible, with Chimayo wool weaving on one side and leather on the other. The wool in good clean condition with some slight surface soiling. The leather presents with a slightly deeper shade of maroon than as illustrated in the catalogue; its surfaces with very minor scattered scratches and slight dents, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. The brass tacks are all present and in good condition.
