Condition

Overall in good condition. There are natural knots, irregularities and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, and this has been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production. The wood surfaces with minor scattered scuffs, scratches, dents, abrasions, minor areas of rubbing, and a few areas of paint residue, consistent with age and gentle use. Both vertical back poles and the front-most proper left arm support with minor losses to the wood inlay in a few instances, the largest of which is located to the foot of the proper left pole (approximately 6 3/4 in.in length). The rear upper edge of both vertical back pole with areas of slightly more pronounced abrasions, the larger on the proper right vertical post measuring approximately ¼ x 7/8 in. Both front feet with areas of more pronounced rubbing and wear throughout the forward facing sides as is visible in the catalogue illustration. Both the seat and back cushions are reversible, with original Chimayo wool weaving on one side and leather on the other. The wool presents with a slightly more maroon hue than as illustrated in the catalogue and this distinguishes its tonality and texture from that of the leather. The wool in good, clean condition. The back cushion with some fading to the wool mostly concentrated to the top edges, likely from sun exposure and as partially visible in the catalogue illustration. The brass tacks are all present with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. A highly comfortable chair that is popular within the oeuvre of Molesworth; the pieces presents very well overall.
