Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are natural knots, irregularities and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, and this has been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, dents, and minor areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. Both the seat and back cushions are reversible, with original Chimayo wool weaving on one side and original leather on the other. The wool in good, clean condition. The leather surfaces with scattered surface scratches, abrasions, and instances of rubbing, all consistent with age and gentle use. The leather surface of the seat cushion with some instances of more pronounced dryness and craquelure. One leather corner of the seat back cushion with minor separation at the seams measuring approximately 1 ½ in. The bottom of the front and proper left side rails with more pronounced wear to the leather, at some points exposing the wood frame underneath the leather and slightly visible in the catalogue illustration. The brass tacks are all original and present, with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. Originally designed as a "ladies" chair, this form presents as slightly smaller in proportion when compared against some of Molesworth's more typical club chairs. Additionally, the horizontal arm rests are slightly wider. Exhibiting Molesworth's characteristic knotty burls, highly comfortable chair, with it's supple leather and vibrant Chimayo weaving, is one of Molesworth's most sought after models.
