  • 78 x 63 cm
the Buddha Amitabha dressed in multi-coloured robes, with hands in dhyana mudra and holding a black patra, seated in vajraparyankasana on a peacock throne with chatra above, the bodhisattva Lokeshvara standing to the left and Vajrapani to the right, seated Buddhas in vertical registers to the left and right of the throne, and multiple images of Shadaksari Avalokiteshvara in registers surrounding throughout, a donor family in the lower left Himalayan Art Resources item no. 77079.

Condition

In good overall condition. Creases and losses throughout especially in the upper three registers. Staining to the left side of the painting. Consolidation and inpainting in the plain blue background to the throne, particularly to the upper right of the canopy, to the right of the canopy above the blue bodhisattva, and parts of the upright vertical blue panel to the right side of the shrine and areas of the blue to the right of the peacocks in the throne base. Losses to the gold line work in the Buddhas's cushion behind with consolidation to the right of the left shoulder. Consolidation in the upper right and central areas of the red throne back above and to the side of the blue bodhisattva.
