Sale: Gros-Delettrez, Paris, 14 December 2004, lot 376

Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher which appears to be of the period. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure throughout, notably in the sky, and one very small spot of paint lifting in the upper left quadrant. Ultra-violet light reveals three small spots of retouching in the sky in the upper left quadrant, possibly addressing old paint flaking. Otherwise, the main composition appears to be untouched. This work is in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
