Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There is some very light frame rubbing along the extreme left framing edge, including one small spot to the left of the stairs closer to the centre of the left edge, as visible in the catalogue illustration. Ultra-violet light reveals a thick layer of varnish which prevents it from fully penetrating. However, some fine strokes of cosmetic retouching are visible along the four extreme framing edges.
This work is in good condition and ready to hang.
Presented in an elaborate gilt frame with some losses.
