  • Fabius Brest

  • oil on canvas
  • 30 by 60cm., 11¾ by 23½in.

Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher which appears to be of the period. Some scattered, hairline craquelure is visible, notably in the sky. Ultra-violet light reveals scattered areas of retouching in the sky, including a circa 5 by 5cm area to the left of the minaret (also patched on the reverse), some strokes in the lower right corner which also appear to have somewhat discoloured in time are barely visible to the naked eye, and some other small, scattered dabs of strengthening notably in the left edge. However, this work presents very well and is in overall good condition. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
