Overall, the condition of the ewer and basin is very good with minor dirt and wear consistent with age.
The patina of the basin is more of a silver colour than the ewer. The gilt surface of the ewer is variated in colour. The gilding is slightly blackened and slightly mottled particularly at the central figurative frieze, but elsewhere to some of the crevices. There is dirt to some of the crevices. There is some rubbing to the gold, in particular at the highpoint such as the figures’ arms and hands. Some of the highpoints have been slightly flattened such as on the figures’ chin at the frieze.
