In the second item Jevons proposes a modification of the systems to permit numerical quantities in the logical reasoning developed by George Boole and Augustus DeMorgan. The third item is a notice of Jevons' important lecture presenting his logical abacus, which is described fully in The Substitution of Similars (1869, see previous lot).
