Catalogue Note

RARE. Sacro Bosco's tract on algebra was first printed in Strassburg in 1488, as part of Anianus's Computus. It is a brief treatise which introduced Arabic numerals into the curriculum in order to simplify calculations; its popularity and widespread use is attested by the number of surviving manuscripts and its appearance in medieval university curricula.
