"Gardiner's tables were noted for their accuracy and were highly regarded in their time" (Tomash & Williams). Some copies have a slip giving proportional parts tipped in (as does this copy). The original owner of this copy, Philip Earl Stanhope, was one of the subscribers to this work, to all of whom "This Book of Logarithms is most humbly inscribed" (dedication/subscription leaf).
