Condition

Oil on canvas, with an older lining. There is an extensive inscription on the lining (on the reverse): 'Mr. Fellows of Norfolk on his favourite hunter Falstaff / with Dunnett the huntsman and the Shotesham Harriers / These celebrated harriers hunted 12 square miles in South Norfolk / Painted by Abm. Cooper. RA 1827' The picture surface is in fair condition aside from a discolored, unevenly applied varnish that is blanching at lower right. Minor lifting and small, scattered losses along the entire lower edge. Surface dirt and dust. Under UV light, there are scattered retouchingā€˜s throughout the sky, mainly brushy, though a few more distinct pindots in the upper left sky. Retouchings visible along all four edges. A few additional small dots scattered throughout the landscape and the pack of hounds.
