original canvas; marks of stretcher visible on the lower edge; very thin network of craquelures in the lower left; several retouches, especially on the floor and background; on the building on the right, on the clothes of the schoolchildren, on the faces of 9 of them, including 4 important repaints (on girl in the back, on girl squatting at the back of the circle of children, on the girl standing in the middle of the circle, on the girl raising her right arm on the right side), on the characters in the background and repaints along the edges

Catalogue Note
Bartholomé worked with diverse techniques : oil, pastel, and most of all sculpture, to which he dedicated himself from 1886 on, and for which he remains famous.
