This study was executed in 1899 for Le Sidaner's achieved work, Soleil couchant sur les maisons, painted the same year in Bruges (sold by Sotheby's New York, May 15th 2018, lot 111 ; Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner, Le Sidaner, L'Oeuvre peint et gravé, Paris, 1989, n°76).
