- a few wears on the borders due to the frame - minor loss on the statue on the chimney and on the shelf on the right - two thin scratches lower left - under UV light, minor retouches alongside the border, on the losses mentionned above, and on the scratches lower left Very good condition.

Catalogue Note

The Coquelin brothers, Constant Coquelin (1841-1909) aka Coquelin Aîné, and Ernest Coquelin (1848-1909) aka Coquelin Cadet, renowned comedians, collected works by artists of the second half of the 19th Century, especially Cazin, Dagnan-Bouveret and most of all Friant.
Friant met Constant Coquelin in 1885. From then on, Friant had a new market place : Paris. The next year, the two men traveled to Italy, Tunisia and London. Friant executed a certain number of portrait of Coquelin Aîné.
