A LARGE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL VASE EARLY 20TH CENTURY |

Description

  • 54.5 cm, 21 1/2  in.
the globular body rising from a short foot to a cylindrical neck and everted gilt-bronze rim,  brightly polychrome-enamelled around the exterior of the body with stylised lotus scrolls and foliates, below a band of plantain leaves at the shoulders, with further floral scrolls at the neck, the foot decorated with a keyfret border, all reserved on a turquoise-blue ground

Condition

This vase is in overall good condition, with the exception of a small vertical dent to the rim (approx. 1.5 cm), and a small bruise (approx. 0.5 x 1.5 cm) above the key fret border to the foot, and some further ones below the shoulders (largest approx. 1.5 x 1 cm). There are characteristic pitting to the enamel, minor enamel flakes and light rubbing to the extremities including rubbing of gilding.
