Description

  • 15 cm, 5 7/8  in.
of cylindrical form rising from three short feet, carved around the exterior in openwork with a continuous scene of animated scholars enjoying food and wine below a towering gnarled pine tree, served by two attendants, patinated to a rich deep reddish-brown tone

Condition

This brushpot is in overall good condition with the exception of minor nicks to the extremities and also some vertical age cracks running from the rim and some from the base (the longest approx. 5 cm), some of which have been in-filled. The base with a small three-branch crack and a tiny area of associated loss.
