Description

Eight Wooden warhead models lacquered in white; mounted in custom display case. Each model with accompanying metal plaque. WITH: 5 vintage NASA silver gelatin prints taken in Feb 1960-April 1961, of various rocket launches. AND: 2 inch round paperweight with metal pin of the North American Air Defense Command.

Catalogue Note

CUSTOM SET OF WARHEAD MODELS, DEMONSTRATING THE VARIOUS WARHEADS TO BE SET ATOP DIFFERENT ROCKETS. Includes an MK2 for the Thor/Atlas;  an Able and RVX-1 for the Thor Able; an RVX-2 for the Atlas; an MK 3 for the Atlas/Titan I; an MK 3C TP; and MK 6 for the Titan II. The accompanying photographs are from the US Air Force Missile Test Center, showing the launch of the Convair Lockheed Midad Missile; the Douglas Thor Able IV Deep Space Probe; the Martin Titan Missile; the Jupiter IRBM Missile; and the Pershing Missile.  Likely custom made for a US General, this hints that the moon landing was not the only possible motive for the Space Race.
