The Saturn series of rockets, Saturn I, IB, and V, have a one hundred percent success rate, unmatched by any other rocket program in history. The development program for these rockets and their associated engines began in the late 1950’s with the last test flight for the Saturn V ending in April 1968. Manned flights for the Saturn IB and V both began in 1968 and ending in December 1972 for the Saturn V. The last Saturn V launched the unmanned Skylab space station into earth orbit in 1973. The Saturn IB ended the Saturn Program with three launches to the Skylab and a final launch of Apollo for the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Program.
Chapter topics include the Saturn building blocks, the engines, building the Saturn V, coordination between men and machines, and the step by step approach to vehicle launches.
