  • framed: 52 by 84cm., 20½ by 33in.
worked in polychrome wools and highlights of cotton for rigging, with British red ensign and red and blue pendants, mounted in original gilt-gesso glazed frame

Condition

Within frame - textile visible: 44.5 by 76cm., 17¼ by 30in. Textile is faded and the light colours (all the sky and clouds) are discoloured overall. There are some small holes, and small areas on the far left edge revealing the support linen textile, which are only noticeable on close inspection. Generally in good overall condition. Charming original frame in good overall condition, with some surface loss to the gilding the gesso and minor horizontal surface cracks commensurate with old gesso. Evocative, charming and decorative piece.
