R. J. Charleston and Donald Towner, English ceramics, 1580-1830: a commemorative catalogue of ceramics and enamels to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the English Ceramic Circle, 1927-1977, London, 1977, no. 29, described as 'probably the smallest example of a salt-glaze bear yet found.'

Condition

The handle is restored and probably a replacement. There is a small rim chip and a further restored small rim chip. To the cover there is restoration at the terminal of the snout. There are three small restored rim chips. One ear is restored and is perhaps a replacement. Overall in generally good appearance.
