Description

- 12.8 cm, 5 in.
inlaid with soapstone depicting a foreigner dancing next to a Buddhist lion, further inscribed with poems, signed Yunyan jushi
Condition
Please note that this brushpot is inlaid with soapstone, instead of horn which is as incorrectly stated in the catalogue. There are few losses to the inlaid with old replacement fillings, but overall this has been rather well preserved. The brushpot itself is generally in good condition with some typical age cracks on the mouth rim and in areas around the body. The brushpot is glued to the wood stand, which forms the base. The actual colour of the brushpot is slightly warmer, less yellow, and more shiny compared to the catalogue illustration.
