Description

  • Height of taller 13 5/8  in., 34.6 cm
comprising a seated figure of Zhenwu dressed in a 'dragon' robe, the embroidery of the robe cast in high relief, a turtle and snake by the proper left foot, traces of gilt and polychrome; and a seated figure of Guanyin holding a moon disc in the left hand and wearing an elaborate robe and diadem, secured to a wood base (2)

Condition

The Zhenwu is missing the attribute from the floral holder at the right foot, as illustrated. There is extensive flaking to the gilt lacquer. The Bixiayuanjun with small losses to the diadem and a loss to the tip of the left bottom ribbon. The gilt lacquer is almost completely lost. The base with a wood support that has been attached by a screw. Both with expected surface wear, small dents and minor bent sections.
