  • Length of largest 9 1/4  in., 23.5 cm
comprising a wood holding cage (tilong) used for transporting the crickets; a black jade jar and cover (douguan) and a rectangular wood cage (douge) used as the arena for cricket fighting; an incised gourd cage and cover (guoguo guan) with wood stand; a bamboo cage (guoguo long) and a bamboo box (guoguo he) used for listening to the sound of bush crickets (10)

Condition

The holding cage in overall good condition with a minute nick to the edge; The jade jar and cover are in overall good condition with some expected minute nicks to the rims; The rectangular wood cage with its base reattached. One cage cover with the middle stretcher detached on one end; The gourd cage with two faint cracks to the body. The cover with a restored crack to the rim, and the central medallion has been reattached; The bamboo cage in overall good condition with possible replacement to the bamboo sticks; The bamboo box in overall good condition. All pieces with expected minor wear. Please note that this lot will require a CITES permit for export outside of the United States.
