Description

  • Height 9 1/4  in., 23.5 cm
of baluster form with gilt metal chilong handles flanking the neck, carved with foliate and figural motifs over a wanzi ground, set with a later white jade plaque, the base and reverse in black lacquer

Condition

One handle is slightly loose with a small 0.9 cm associated section to the edge of the vase off and re-stuck. The base with an infilled repair to a flake. Some flaking, lifting, age cracks, and re-lacquering to the black lacquer. Some expected surface wear and minor areas of retouching to the rims and edges. The jade plaque appears to be in overall good condition.
