  • Bronze, rosewood lid and base
  • Width 14 1/8  in., 35.8 cm
the compressed body flanked by two chilong handles, all raised on three mythical beast feet, the base with an apocryphal six-character Xuande mark, the wood cover surmounted by a jade finial carved as the 'Hehe Erxian,' wood stand (3)

Acquired by 1970, and thence by descent.

Condition

The censer is in good overall condition. There are two visible casting patches and expected wear overall including small nicks to the rim, feet and extremities, and minor surface pitting from age and use. The cover with glued repairs.Please note that this lot includes a stand, frame or other component made from a type of Chinese hardwood, which, if exported, will require a CITES permit to leave the United States.
