The canvas has been laid down on board. The corners of the board are slightly frayed and the left corners of the canvas have become detached. There is a nick to the centre of the top edge as well as another one to the centre of the bottom edge. The edges are covered in paper, some of which has been lost. There is fine craquelure in places, as well as some deeper cracks to the snow in the foreground. Inspection under UV light reveals some minor scattered retouching, mostly concentrated in the snow in the foreground. Held in a decorative gilt wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
