Condition
The board is sound. There are frame abrasions along the edges with minor associated paint loss. There is a vertical crease or crack running down the left edge. Some isolated faint cracks are visible in places along the edges. There is a faint surface scratch running across the tip of the woman's necklet and coat.There is a tiny scratch at the bottom of the left man's coat. Scattered throughout the composition, there are tiny flecks of paint loss. Some paint shrinkage is visible in the white pigment along the edges. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots in places. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouching to the left soldier's hat, face and coat and to the two other figures' coats. There is some further retouching to the background along the right soldier's neck and along the lower right edge. Held in a painted wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
