Condition
Original canvas. There are frame abrasions along the edges with some associated paint loss. There is a canvas buckle in the upper left. There is craquelure visible throughout, including several areas of circular craquelure to the sky and the background between the houses. There are several small areas of paint losses to the ground in the lower right corner and another area of paint loss to the window with the three figures. There are other minor flecks of paint loss visible elsewhere. There are two thin horizontal indentations running across the lower half of the canvas. There are abrasions in places, most notably to the spear visible between the houses. There is a layer of surface dirt with spots in places and the varnish has discoloured unevenly. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouching along the edges. Held in a carved wooden frame. Unexamined out of frame.
