Condition
Original canvas. There are minor frame abrasions along the edges. There are pin holes in places along the edges. There are several small areas of raised craquelure, most noticeably along the left side of the upper edge and the centre of the bottom edge, as well as in the upper left quadrant between two of the trees. Areas of paint loss are visible, most notably towards the upper end of the trunk of the large birch tree on the left and to the grey of a birch tree in the upper left quadrant. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of retouching along all four edges, to the foliage in the upper left corner, to the ground above the middle of the bottom edge as well as some further spots of retouching scattered throughout. Held in a contemporary black frame. Unexamined out of frame.
