Condition

The canvas has been lined. There is craquelure in places, including several small areas of raised craquelure with associated paint loss: a horizonal line approximately 44cm from the bottom edge and 70cm from the left edge; a vertical line approximately 70cm from the bottom edge and 50cm from the left edge; as well as other small localised areas of raised craquelure. There is a fleck of paint loss to the right edge approximately 20cm from the bottom edge. There are abrasions along the edges with some minor associated paint loss. There is a light layer of surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals extensive retouching to the sky, the largest of which are to the clouds in the upper left quadrant. There is a large area of retouching to the crown of the tree in the upper left, several large areas of retouching to the apple tree and a large area to the grass in the lower left. There are scattered areas of retouching elsewhere. Held in a modern wooden frame with decorative mouldings. Unexamined out of frame.
