Condition
The canvas has been strip-lined. There are frame abrasions with associated paint loss along the edges. There is a pattern of horizontal craquelure particularly visible to the trees towards the centre, as well areas of craquelure elsewhere which is raised and flaking in places. There are flecks and small areas of paint loss scattered throughout, most notably along the edges, the sky and in the lower part of the composition. Inspection under UV light reveals areas of restoration along the edges, to the shrubbery in the foreground, to the aforementioned losses in the sky in the upper right as well as some further scattered spots and smaller areas of retouching elsewhere. Held in a wooden tray frame. Unexamined out of frame.
