Condition

The work is executed on two sheets of paper which have been joined at the centre. The sheets have been attached to the mount along the top and bottom edges and the adhesive material is visible through the paper. The sheets have discoloured unevenly in line with age. There are several losses to the work, most notably two along the left edge, one to the top edge along the left-hand side and one to the lower middle left of the work below the grass. There are tears scattered along the edges of the work, the largest of which are two tears approximately 3cm and 2cm in size respectively on the left-hand side of the top edge. There is staining along the centre of the top edge. There are two faint cross-shaped charcoal markings to the top right corner and a bolder charcoal cross along the lower right-hand edge. There is a fine layer of surface dirt with faint foxing in places. Held in a painted wooden frame behind glass. Unexamined out of frame.
